SCAR is an acronym for Special Operations Forces Combat Assault Rifle. It's a modular automatic rifle, developed 2003-2007 in FN Herstal factories for USSOCOM. Currently, there are three variants of this rifle: SCAR-L (Mk16 Mod0) 5,56mm NATO, SCAR-H (Mk17 Mod0) 7,62 NATO and SCAR SSR for snipers. Field tests of all three variants are being perfomed by US Navy Seals and other special forces.
